| COOL STORIES FOR WHEN THE PLANET GETS HOT III is the third edition of a video and animation contest on Climate Change by ARTPORT_making waves. The compilation features 19 videos focusing on forests in honor of the United Nations International Year of Forests 2011, and was premiered at the Swiss Architecture Museum in conjunction with Art 42 Basel. The videos comment on the dangers of deforestation and the malaises of climate change, but counter ominous moods with humorous commentary and sheer beauty--for instance, when we see pieces of wood flying through the air in slow motion. The winner, Sergio Sotomayor, will receive an artist residency at Guapamacataro in Michoacan, Mexico (guapamacataro.org). |
COOL STORIES FOR WHEN THE PLANET GETS HOT III es la tercera edición de un concurso de vídeo y animación sobre cambio climático creado por ARTPORT_making waves. La compilación muestra 19 vídeos centrados en los bosques en honor al Año Internacional de los Bosques de las Naciones Unidas 2011, y fue estrenado en el Museo de Arquitectura Suizo en paralelo a Art 42 Basel. Los vídeos hablan de los peligros de la deforestación y el malestar del cambio climático y contraponen a los ambientes fatales unos comentarios humorísticos y pura belleza—por ejemplo, cuando vemos piezas de madera cayendo lentamente en un espacio vacío. El ganador, Sergio Sotomayor, recibirá una beca de residencia en Guapamacátaro en Michoacán, México (guapamacataro.org). |
